I’m Wade Lincoln and all of the paintings appearing on this site are my original work. You may see more at my website.
I have been greatly influenced by works of the Arts & Crafts era, like the art tile and pottery of Rookwood and Grueby, and the furniture of Stickley and the Roycrofters. Their work shows the deep, personal relationship between the craft and the craftsman. My acrylic landscapes, with their heavy texture and straightforward composition, wrapped in quarter sawn oak frames, draw directly upon this influence.
My oil paintings, with a nod to Hopper, are inspired by the simple beauty of place. The new pieces, while Lichtenstein like, are also my pop take on Hopper, with the bold shadows and sharp colors. As you can see, I'm easily influenced and inspired.
Sunrise, sunset, California, the old Vermont home, New England, Savannah and the low country, Hopper, Wyeth, Homer, Lichtenstein, Steinbeck, Dylan.
Elbert Hubbard, founder of the Roycroft Artisan Community, said, “Art is not a thing, it is a way.” This is my way. I hope you enjoy it.
